The bowl stacks easily on the base and a metal locking arm secures the lid to the bowl. If I take the time to try and separate all the bits from the actual slices, it's way more time consuming than slicing with my mandolin or by hand with a knife. However, the slices mixed with tons and tons of random bits is quite annoying and takes forever to pick out the actual slices. it does cut my carrots quickly and that was the main goal. It is available in a silver and black finish and comes with a one-year limited warranty. Not thrilled about that but I'm sure I'll eventually find a workable solution. I do like that it is a quick clean up and all the parts go in the top rack of the dishwasher. Perhaps if the chute opening were closer to the blade there would be less randomness and more uniformity? Clearly I'm not an appliance engineer! I'm anxious to use it for options other than slicing carrots but have yet to try any at this point in time. I load the chute with several carrots alternating the thick and thin ends, but not too tight so it still feeds easily without undo pressure on the blade. but sadly with the Slice Blade I get an array from see-through thin slices to a normal thickness, to shavings, to long vertical slices and a bunch of little bitty shreds, slivers and shavings. I was hoping for quick and easy, uniform, round slices. It's only a few weeks old and I bought it to quickly slice carrots I use for my dog's treats.
