The bowl stacks easily on the base and a metal locking arm secures the lid to the bowl. If I take the time to try and separate all the bits from the actual slices, it's way more time consuming than slicing with my mandolin or by hand with a knife. I load the chute with several carrots alternating the thick and thin ends, but not too tight so it still feeds easily without undo pressure on the blade. but sadly with the Slice Blade I get an array from see-through thin slices to a normal thickness, to shavings, to long vertical slices and a bunch of little bitty shreds, slivers and shavings.
